Gingham For Spring 2018

Gingham is the most obvious thing ever for Spring, but something about it just draws me in every year!  You can literally find it everywhere this year and I am loving the fresh new ways it is being used from bags to shoes to housewares.  It just looks so happy and crisp to me, exactly what we need after this bi-polar winter we have had going on.  PS, even Gucci has some gingham shoes out!  (crazily priced, but still!)  I tried to round up some atypical finds that weren’t your usual gingham button down or shorts and hope you love them as much as I do!  As always, click on the pink link to see the item in store.

Off the Shoulder Top

First up is this adorable off the shoulder top.  It would be so cute with white jeans or shorts and would look equally good with black pants.

Wrap Gingham Top

Love, love, love this wrap gingham top.  It’s so airy and gives you full coverage if the off the shoulder top is too much for you.  Again, would look amazing with white jeans.

Gingham Dress

I call this one the grown up Dorothy dress.  I love it’s elbow length sleeves and the wrap top.  Such a cute dress!

Lace Up Denim

I was sincerely not prepared for how cute this lace up ankle denim is!  Gah!  Pretty sure I am going to have to purchase these.  I must warn you, they are very pricey!  Wait for a sale!  They come in both plus and missy sizes, petite and regular, so we can all geek out on our gingham!!

Not sure gingham is for you?  Ease into it with this headband.  Could it be more southern preppy?

Gingham Flats

How about these gingham flats for Spring and Summer?  For all of us who wear black all Summer long, these are perfect!  Pretty sure I am going to need to buy these too!

Monogrammed Gingham Clutch

The sight of this clutch made my monogram, preppy loving heart explode!  OMG!  This is a must have!  And the perfect gift for all those Spring birthdays!  FYI, she makes a ton of really cute bags in different fabrics.  Love them!

Gingham Mules

I like that these are so different and not your typical gingham shoe.  And I think you could get away with them from now until early September since they are closed toe.  Kinda torn between these and the other flats above.

Gingham Plates

Gingham for Spring doesn’t just stop at clothes!  Look at these all kinds of adorable gingham plates!  How cute would these be for Easter?  or the navy for Fourth of July?

Are you a gingham fan?  I’d love to hear about if you love or hate it in the comments!

Spring Bags

I tend to reward myself with a new bag when something goes right (or wrong if I’m honest!) and I had a couple things go right last week, so it’s time!  Luckily, there are tons of Spring bag options out there to be checked out.

I, of course, love a black bag as much as the next girl, but I thought I might venture into some blush choices this go around.  Something about the new Spring blush bags is pulling at me.  I figured since I was already checking out the choices, I would share my contenders with my readers.

Leigh Faux Leather Tote

This faux leather tote is pretty reasonably priced.  I like the tassels and love that you can fit a ton inside.  Perfect for a trip.  It only had one review, so not sure of the quality.

Medium Transport Tote

This leather tote is a bit more pricey, but this brand is definitely high quality.  Tons of reviews online, all pretty positive.  I like this brand a lot, but I’ve never seen this color in person.  I’ve only seen their English Saddle color (but it is lovely!).   Again, it’s a tote, so you can fit a ton in it.  Perfect for your commute.

Faux Leather Ruffle Clutch

Completely different than the totes, of course, but I couldn’t resist including this ruffle clutch.  This is adorable and would be so great for showers and weddings!  It’s reasonably priced and pretty large for a clutch.  I have heard nothing but good things about Sole Society, though I haven’t checked out anything from them in person.  They basically sell out of everything I want to buy before I get a chance to pull the trigger!  I think this bag will probably sell out too!

Madison Layden Floral

Damn you Kate Spade and your super fun bags!  Ugh!  I do love this bag, and I have loved Kate Spade in the past and own a few bags, buuuuttt I really feel like their quality has gone somewhat downhill.  Anyone else feel that way too?  I feel like Coach has gone the same way.  When I compare older bags I own to their new stuff, it just doesn’t feel as substantial or well made.  Just my opinion and hopefully something both brands will remedy.  In any case, this bag is all kind of adorbs, but I need to check it out in person, especially at this price.  And really, I was looking for more of an every day bag, instead of a novelty one, but gah! KS gets me every time!

Mori Suede Crossbody

This bag is by All Saints and I’ve heard really good things about this brand.  I love the whip stitching on the bag and the tassels.  I used to have a pink suede bag years ago and I love, love, loved it! Definitely on the pricey side.

Darren Deerskin Feed Bag

I have a couple Rebecca Minkoff bags and I love them.  They are super soft leather and hold up well.  This one looks to be the same.  It’s different enough from the two I already have and of course, the blush is beautiful!  It comes in black too, but the hardware is gold and I have to say, that one is calling my name too!  I am pretty torn on this bag.  The other great thing is, it comes with a convertible cross body strap, so you can either use it as a shoulder or crossbody.  That appeals to me especially when trekking around on my commute.  It’s a bit pricey but the quality is great.

Je’Taime Convertible

Last but not least is this convertible number, also from Rebecca Minkoff.  This bag was all over blogland in the fall in the berry color, but this blush is to die for!  I love the idea of a small bag that I can always through into something bigger if needed, but then just have this for running around.  I know quality will be great and I love that the strap has leather where it hits your shoulder.  It’s a minor thing, but major if you ever have had to lug your bag around all day with a chain strap digging.

Which one would you pick?  Any others I should check out?  Let me know in the comments!

Must Have Monday

Our weather in Pittsburgh was crazy this weekend, torrential rain, angry snow, and then it warmed up.  Bizarre!  I did get a chance to do some shopping during the amazing President’s Day sales going on, both online and in person! Here’s some of my fave finds of the weekend.

Cult Gaia Mini Ark

Have you checked out the “it” bag yet?  The Cult Gaia Mini Ark that is on backorder everywhere?  I love it for summer but I didn’t love the price!  I found an pretty identical look alike for much less on Amazon!

Bamboo clutch

Here’s the lookalike!  They are so similar it doesn’t make sense not to buy this one.  This one has great reviews on Amazon too.  Comes in a couple different colors.  I am torn between this color and the black.  Which would you pick?

Greece Sandal

Another lookalike for very pricey designer sandals!  These Steve Madden Greece Sandals keep selling out in my size in this color, so I may end up just getting the black.  I like that they don’t have a thong situation.  It’s so hard to find sandals that don’t have one.  Comes in a bunch of other colors but this one and the black are my faves.

Cutout Lounge Top

Lounge Wear

I have a similar set of this lounge wear that is heavier knit and I have been wearing around the house all winter.  When I saw this Spring version I had to pick them up during their 40% off sale this weekend.  It’s made out of the softest knit.  I can’t wait to wear it!

I’d love to hear about any of your finds in the comments below!  Have a great Monday and enjoy that extra day off if you get one!

Plus Size Resort Wear

The weather where I live has been abysmal so far this year!  Even though it is supposed to warm up this coming week, my mind has been on the beach since January.  I’ve seen lots of blog posts about resort wear for straight sizes, but not many for plus size.  I decided to put one together for us!

Winter getaways are usually short, so I like to pack things that can be worn for several different occasions.  I like to get a big bang for my item so to speak!

Let’s start with what to wear to the airport.  I usually wear jeans, tshirt and a lightweight jacket that can be worn with dresses and shorts if it turns out to be chilly at my destination.

Jean jackets are pretty much a universal packed item, but for something different this bomber jacket would work great.  It looks great with a tshirt, dress or shorts.  It serves essentially the same purpose of your jean jacket, but it’s a little trendier.

Bomber Jacket

If you are feeling a little daring, I found this super cute tunic sweatshirt and I’m thinking this would be amazing to wear on the airplane coming from a colder climate with leggings.  It could double as something to throw on when the ac is too strong in the hotel or even something to wear to sleep in a pinch.  It comes in several other colors but I do love this pink.

Hooded Tunic

After figuring out my airport outfit, the very first thing I pack is my bathing suit and cover up.  I tend to pack too many of each, but if I could only pack one, it would be this bathing suit and this cover up.   The bathing suit paired with a pair of shorts could definitely pass for a top and the cover up is great for breakfast or lunch on your way to the beach.  I love pieces I can wear both to the beach and around the hotel without feeling like I’m in my bathing suit in the lobby!

Off the Shoulder Swimsuit

Beach Cover Up

I also think this maxi dress is a must.  It can be a coverup, wear it sightseeing or for a casual dinner.  It’s one of those dresses you are going to wear a million times.  Cute with the bomber or a jean jacket when the nights get chilly.

V Neck Maxi

For a little color in my suitcase, I have to add this fun maxi.  I can definitely see this being worn to lunch or date night depending on shoes and accessories.  I love the halter neckline!  Again, looks great with either jacket choice.

Print Maxi

You need an interesting shirt to pair with shorts or your jeans you wear on the plane and this one fits the bill.  I can see it looking great on a ton of different body types.  It’s basic, but with a twist,  Something a little different than your ordinary gingham shirt.

Off the Shoulder shirt

I love this jumpsuit and think there’s tons of places to wear it on vacation.  It’s definitely something that depends on the shoes and accessories to determine how dressy it is.  You could pair it with flip flops and a hat for the day and high heeled sandals and tassel earrings for night time.

Speaking of hats, I always pack a couple in my bag when heading to somewhere sunny.  I make it a point to always protect my face from the sun.  The rest of me I try to protect, but my face always!  Wrinkles are not funny!

I usually have some kind of baseball hat or fedora that I wear on the plane and then I pack a big sun hat.  If you don’t have a packable one, put clothes in the middle of the hat and then lay it hole down in your suitcase (with the clothes in the hole part) and then pack around it to keep it’s shape.  This hat is reasonably priced and has full coverage.

Floppy Hat

You also need versatile bags to take with you.  I love this bag for your casual day looks.  It’s perfect for the plane and around town and could double as a beach bag in a pinch.

Resort Bag

I also dig this straw bag and think it could get a ton of wear.  Really cute with all the outfits above.

Black Straw Bag

Now we are up to my hardest part of packing, which is which shoes to take?  I think you can’t go wrong with these two.

And along with your flip flops, throw in these amazing sneakers! Though I would probably wear them on the flight. Totally in love with them.

Animal Print Sneakers

To finish it off I would throw in some pajamas, shorts and a tshirt or two plus my beauty essentials.  Click on any of the pink links below the photos to locate the items shown.

What would you pack in your bag?  I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

Buffalo Check Christmas and Home Decor

I absolutely love buffalo check (or plaid) and especially love it for Christmas!  I’m having an phone issue, so I can’t upload a picture of my front porch, but it is currently sporting a buffalo check be-ribboned wreath and welcome mat!

I started seeing it in Christmas decor last year and this year, it is EVERYWHERE!  I rounded up some of my fave buffalo check home and Christmas decor below.

Monogram Buffalo Check Throw

This monogrammable buffalo check throw from Nordstrom would make a great Christmas gift!  I love the subtle gray and white.

Buffalo Check Sherpa Throw

I have a similar sherpa throw and I am totally in love with how soft and warm it is.   I don’t know which of these I would buy, I am torn between gray and black and red!

Deer Ornament

How cute is this deer ornament?  It would make a great gift topper!

Buffalo Plaid Stocking

I am in love with this fur trimmed stocking!  It would look amazing with some of my other Christmas decor.

Technically a mousepad isn’t Christmas or home decor but I couldn’t resist! How cute would this be as part of a gift with the deer ornament as a topper?

Buffalo Check Pillow Cover

I have been trying to resist these buffalo check pillow covers since October!  I think having the red and black all year long would make me get tired of it and I can’t justify buying them just for Christmas.  I still love them though!!

Buffalo Check Duvet Cover

Same story with this duvet cover.  I have always wanted to have a Christmas bedroom and this would be perfect! but alas, the cost factor!  It would make a really cute boys room too.  Speaking of, I’ve seen some adorable buffalo check nurseries lately!

Do you love buffalo check like I do? What do you have in your home that’s buffalo check? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

Must Have Monday

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!  Mine was relaxing with a ton of Starbucks and Gilmore Girls marathoning and a dose of shopping.  I’ve never been a middle of the night Black Friday shopper.  Having worked retail in the past, I always feel bad for anyone who has to leave their family on Thanksgiving to go open a store, so I try not to shop until mid day on Friday.

Did you notice how many stores had their Black Friday sales start earlier in the week?  I swear every other email was another early Black Friday notice.  I was definitely on board for that!

I bought a few things online and I did venture out later on Friday and then again on Saturday for a few quick gifts.  I don’t even know why I bothered, I should have just shopped online for everything!  It wasn’t the crowds, it was more a woefully under staffed Macy’s that was annoying.

I did find a couple things I consider Must Have’s and am sharing today!

Voluspa Goji Tarroco Orange Candle

First up is this beautiful candle I found at a local gift shop (Gifted Hands for those of you that are local to Pittsburgh).  Though Voluspa can be found online at Nordstrom and a lot of other retailers.  I loved the red glass container (it looks slightly orange in the photo above but in person it is a really rich red) and can’t wait to use it once the candle is used up.   The note I notice the most from this one is the orange.  It has a great throw and you can definitely smell it throughout the house.  The red glass looks gorgeous at night when lit!

Alpaca Pajama Bottoms

One of the sales I hit up this weekend was the Lane Bryant 40% off everything sale.  I grabbed these Alpaca pajama pants.  I am definitely seeing Alpaca’s everywhere this Christmas!  These are super comfy and I am actually wearing them as I type this!

Halo Top Ice Cream

Every dieter’s fave, Halo Top Ice Cream!  It used to be sorta hard to find, but it is literally in every grocery store now.  I even found it in my small home town grocer.  My freezer currently has Cinnamon Roll and Peanut Butter Cup.  Available in a million flavors, it is perfect to hit that sweet craving when you are trying to cut calories.  The entire pint is less than 300 calories (varies depending on flavor) and is definitely the best low cal ice cream I’ve encountered.

What did you pick up during Black Friday weekend? Any must have’s? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

Girly Girl Gift Guide

I think (fingers crossed!) I am finally done with my Christmas shopping.  I need to go through my purchases to make sure I didn’t forget anyone, but other than a few things I am waiting on delivery of, I should be good.  If you are done too, congrats! And if you aren’t, I am thinking you might have just a few more difficult people to buy for left on your list.  I wasn’t going to do gift guides this year, but I thought a few geared toward very specific types might be helpful.  If you are like me, you save those hard to buy for people for last, because you are still searching for something good to buy them.

I’m starting with the girly girl, your bff, your sister, maybe you.  They are sometimes hard to buy for, because they already have everything!  I know people say that about me sometimes.  I, of course, always have a list at the ready, so I thought I would share some of the things on it with you.

Angel Wings Scarf

Girly Girl Gift Guide

This scarf is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time.  Does your person love taking Instagram photos? Are they dramatic? Do they just love pretty things?  If those are all yeses, then I think this is the gift for them!  It comes in other colors, but I love the black and white. I found it on Etsy from seller Shovava.

Bun Cuff

Girly Girl Gift Guide

Are they the queen of messy buns?  The bun cuff was released by Chloe and Isabel last year and ups your bun game with style.  It can be worn as a bracelet or as a hair accessory.  It’s really easy to use and it comes in many different finishes.  Rose Gold and Gold are my faves. I am starting to see knock-offs of the original, so you know it’s a certified “thing” once that starts! You can find the Chloe and Isabel version here.

Tassel Earrings

Girly Girl Gift Guide

I’ve seen tassel earrings in a couple different stores this year, but my faves are from Bauble Bar.  They come in a million colors and you can buy the super long ones or mini’s.  Someone on my list may or may not be getting a set of these this year!  You can buy them at Nordstrom or at  In general, you can’t go wrong with Bauble Bar.  I love so many things on their site this year! They are currently having a sale on their monogram items which are super cute.   Find the mini’s here.

Silk Sleep Pillowcase

Girly Girl Gift Guide

Girly girls are always working on keeping those wrinkles at bay and what better way to do it than with a silk pillowcase?  Super luxe and something she probably wouldn’t buy for herself.  Find it at Nordstrom here.

Gold Wrist Cuff

Girly Girl Gift Guide

I love the delicateness of this cuff.  It’s interesting and something she can wear everyday.  Find it at Nordstrom here.

Bow Winter Hat

Girly Girl Gift Guide

It’s hard to look girly when you are freezing, but this hat from Kate Spade manages to fit the bill!  Comes in a couple colors, but I love the pink!  Find it at Kate Spade here.

Rebecca Minkoff Isobel Tassel Hobo

Girly Girl Gift Guide

This bag is gorgeous!  I love Rebecca Minkoff bags in general and own a Regan.  The leather the brand uses is super luxe and this bag is really ready for anything.  You can wear it to work or casual.  It comes in a couple different colors.  Find it at Nordstrom here.

Kate Spade Glitter Shoe Keychain

Girly Girl Gift Guide

So, no Girly Girl Gift Guide would be complete without shoes on it!  I would think it would be awkward to buy shoes for a friend, so this is the next best thing!  Find it at Kate Spade here.

Which of these do you want to find under your tree? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
