Like I said last month, it’s either feast or famine on how many books I read in a month.\u00a0 May happens to be famine! I had a ton going on and really didn’t get a chance to read much.\u00a0 I’m going to be traveling in June, so I am sure I will make up for it next month!<\/p>\n

The first book up is “The Secret Place” by Tana French.<\/a><\/p>\n

Premise:<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s about an Irish private girls school and a murder mystery, full of rival cliques and relationships with boys at the neighboring school.\u00a0 The book is all about how secretive teenagers can be even when it’s a matter of life or death.\u00a0 The two detectives investigating the case haven’t worked together before and much of the book is about how they interact and learn to work together as a team.<\/p>\n

My Thoughts:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I really liked parts of this book and then other parts I didn’t get the connection.\u00a0 There’s a supernatural aspect that’s brought up, but isn’t vital to the plot and I could have done without.\u00a0 Even with that being said, I still would recommend the book.<\/p>\n

Next up is “Every Last Lie” by Mary Kubica.<\/a><\/p>\n

Premise:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clara’s husband is killed in a car accident, but their 4 year old daughter who was in the car too, is unharmed.\u00a0 A mystery unravels after Nick’s death that Clara has to solve to regain her peace of mind.\u00a0 The book goes from Clara uncovering the mystery to Nick’s last days before the accident and back and forth.<\/p>\n

My Thoughts:<\/strong><\/p>\n

This book is very different from Mary Kubica’s other books, all of which I’ve read.\u00a0 I liked it, I didn’t love it, like I have some of her other books.\u00a0 There are some places that are a stretch for reality, but many books (and movies) have that so I wasn’t particularly bothered by them.\u00a0 It’s one of those books that leaves you thinking, How well do I really know anyone?<\/p>\n
