Last winter, I bought my husband tickets to his favorite team when they visited the Pittsburgh Pirates. I wanted to locate seats as close to the visitors dugout as I could find. They weren’t available on the Pirates ticket site, so I turned to Stub Hub. I use Stub Hub all the time to sell my Steeler tickets and figured I could find exactly what I was looking for there. (Not sponsored, I just use Stub Hub all the time). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was able to locate tickets that appeared to be close to the visitors dugout so I bought them. Just as an FYI, when you buy tickets to an event prior to the paper tickets being ready (because the season hasn’t started) Stub Hub sends you an invoice that you can use as your “gift” until the actual tickets are issued. I wrapped up the invoice as his gift, and then I received my paper tickets in April. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day of the game, it called for rain all night, so I knew no matter what I was wearing, it was getting wet. I swear by cheap construction ponchos for rainy football games and brought a couple with us to the Pirate game. They are great because they are a true poncho which means they fit over any coat you have on and come all folded up, so they are easy to carry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had assumed baseball games use the same bag policy as the NFL, but they do not. I used a clear tote bag I have for football, but I saw all kinds of large bags going through the security check. Weird that one sport has the rule and one doesn’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We of course had to check out the Pirate store while we were there. I found the cutest baseball hat. It is black and has small yellow daisy type flowers embroidered on it with a P. I have searched a couple times for it online, but it seems to only be available at the in stadium store. It is my new fave errand hat! People ask me about it every single time I wear it! Sorry I can’t link to it for you! (If you want a pic of it, even though I can’t find it anywhere to purchase, let me know in the comments). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PNC Park has a ridiculous amount of choices for food, truly something for everyone. It does require a bit of figuring out and walking to find where something is located (if you are looking for a specific food). Your basic ballpark food is available everywhere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we were on the quest for food, we ended up in this bar area that had live music, some seating and a fantastic view of Pittsburgh. There are so many places within PNC Park to take great photos of the city. It was super cloudy and definitely going to rain, so I am happy we were able to get any photos! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once we ate, we decided to go check out where our seats actually were located. We ended up being one row from the field. It was amazingly close to the players and the dugout. It did start to rain early in the game and eventually became a pretty solid downpour, so I had to keep my iPhone under cover. Because of this, my photos pretty much stopped a couple innings in, but I was able to get some of the dugout and first base before it really started coming down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our seat mates were two sisters from the West coast who travel every year to see the Oakland A’s play. They were so nice and friendly. I love when you meet people from out of town and they talk about how much they are loving their visit to Pittsburgh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
